For our 5th wedding anniversary, or rather honeymoon anniversary, we decided to go back to Astorga and walk into Santiago yet again. Just can’t get enough of Galicia! Both times we went before Easter, when there are normally fewer people, but this time (due to cheap tickets and eagerness) we went in late February, early March. This was before covid took hold of all our lives, and little did we know that it wouldn’t be just another Spanish walk, but the last one for quite a while. It started well, but though pleasant, if damp and mainly uneventful, it would end in heartache.
