In 2019 I met up with fellow peregrina Colleen in France for a different sort of camino adventure. We started in St Jean and walked to Pamplona, where she had arranged to meet a group of camino curious walkers. Colleen would then walk with them to Logroño as a gentle introduction to the camino, to show them the ropes and help them with the practicalities along the way. I have never walked in an organised group, so I was interested to see how it worked, and Colleen kindly let me tag along. We all walked at our own pace and started and stopped where we liked, but stayed in the same albergues and met up for dinner in the evening. It was a nice, relaxed form of group walk without time restraints or having to stay together at all times – in fact the group soon felt like a natural camino family. If you want any more info on Colleen’s walks, have a look at her website Then We Walked.
After saying goodbye to the group I carried on to Burgos alone, hoping to return in May 2020 – this was not to be, but I did a virtual walk instead (you can find the posts on the Not Going page).
