Just before covid struck, the Xuntas introduced the long awaited app for albergue capacity and bed availability during the busy season. Lots of privately owned albergues are already listed on sites like Booking.com and Hotels.com, but the municipals are not – they have always been strictly first come, first served. The idea was that pilgrims could use the app to check for available beds and presumably be able to book as well.
This app is now no longer in use as there were problems with it, so the situation is as before: Municipal albergues – those that are open – will operate on a first come, first served basis. Please take this into account if you are going on the camino this summer and buen camino!
