Today is the last Wednesday of August, and in Buñol, a town in Valencia, Spain, that can mean only one thing: Tomato food fight!

La Tomatina festival started 80 years ago, inspired by a food fight between local teenagers, and this year about 120 tonnes of tomatoes, grown especially for the event, have been trucked into the town for people to throw at each other. It gets messy – but it looks like fun!
Last year the festival drew crowds of 22,000 people, and you can see footage live on BBC News here right now:

Don’t do this at home, folks! 🍅
