Camino Inglés day 7+8 – Meson do Vento to Sigüeiro

From Meson do Vento the quickest way back to the camino is to take a left just after Meson Novo and join the trail from Bruma. Nanci walked off into the fog on her own as I needed to get a taxi to Ordes to fill a prescription. No matter how remote the trail might seem, if you need anything it’s often just a short taxi ride away.

Splitting yet another “regular” stage made it a very short day – almost too short, as we arrived before our accommodation opened! It has some quite unusual sights though …

The Casa Rural Antón Vieiras was a beautifully restored large farmhouse and very comfortable, and served dinner and breakfast.

The next morning’s forecast was heavy rain, and luckily we had only a few kms to the last bar before Sigueiro, where we could seek shelter and get one last coffee and use the facilities before the last 10+ kms into town. No sooner had we got a table than we bumped into Colleen and her sister! They joined us, demonstrating the benefits of Colacao with brandy on a wet and cold day.

Lots of others piled in from the rain, so we got to meet more of our fellow travellers than we had done in the sunshine. The four of us headed out in a break between showers and made it to Sigueiro reasonably dry – an hour later the heavens opened and it rained for the rest of the night. No matter, we went to the nearest restaurant and had a lovely dinner. Next stop Santiago!
