Caminho Portugues 2010

In 2010 I walked with an old friend who was in recovery from cancer, and wanted to experience a shorter camino ending in Santiago. We travelled to Lisbon and stayed there for a few days, then took the train to Valenca across the river from the Spanish border and started our walk. Sadly it was too hard for her, with constant rain not helping, so from Redondela we got the express bus into Santiago and had three lovely days there. We visited the cathedral, walked the streets, enjoyed the tapas and wines, sat on the bench around the Big Tree and just enjoyed being there.

It might not have been the camino experience we had planned, but it was a wonderful trip I will always remember fondly. Sometimes, as they say, life gives you lemons, so you can make delicious lemonade.
